Albert James Fleming (AJF) Brien started the business as a pocket - book agent in 1942. John Earnest Fleming (JEF) Brien commenced working in the business in 1962. Noel Ledden commenced working within the business in 1980. In 1983 David Chadwick joined the business after the retirement of AJF (Bert) Brien, and subsequently bought into the business in 1989. Peter O'Connor started working with the business in 1984, becoming a partner in 2013 which has led to the current structure since John's retirement. In 2006 Jim Hiscock joined the team and was a valuable addition with his extensive livestock experience. In 2016 the Hiscock family, originally from Victoria, made the decision to move closer to family and relocated to Albury. In 2015 Angus Chadwick joined the business after gaining a degree in Agricultural Economics with Finance, Economics and Agriculture majors.
AJF was predominately a rural property sales and cattle business until David joined the team, whereby sheep were re-introduced into the sales and marketing program. When the wool floor price was pulled in 1991 and the subsequent flock reduction program implemented, sheep numbers in the district were decimated and we witnessed farming and cattle become the dominate production systems. This highlights the flexibly of the region to adapt to market forces. AJF now offers a complete range of sheep, cattle and property sales experience.
With the support of Donna Evans, Shinaid Beazley and Kerryn Ryan, the team has a combined 141 years working for the one business, which could possibly be regarded as one of the most experienced workforces in the industry.
